Real-world electric car range and efficiency

Range and consumption of electric cars measured on the road instead of in a lab: every car was driven by Bjørn Nyland at a constant 90 and 120 km/h on public roads, in summer and in winter. Compare the results with the official WLTP / EPA range, and watch the test video for each car.

Data: Bjørn Nyland's range test results, updated October 18, 2026.

How to read the data

Real-world range

Bjørn drives each car at a constant 90 km/h and 120 km/h on public roads, in summer and (when possible) in winter, and measures how far it gets on a full battery. The temperature during the test is shown next to the season. Winter results include the energy for heating the cabin and the battery, which is why they are lower.

Official range

The range stated by the manufacturer according to the WLTP or EPA cycle. The percentage shows how much of the WLTP range the car reached in the summer test at 90 km/h.

Consumption

Energy used per km in Wh/km (lower is better), measured from the battery. Example: a car using 150 Wh/km with a 60 kWh usable battery drives about 400 km (60,000 Wh ÷ 150 Wh/km).
