Volkswagen ID.3
1st Max 62 kWh
On 20-inch wheels, the Volkswagen ID.3 1st Max used 142 Wh/km at 90 km/h at 18 °C in the test, for a range of about 393 km. That is only slightly more than the base 1st on 18-inch wheels used. The Max adds Travel Assist, which steered far better than the base car's system, but speed sign recognition kept cutting the cruise speed until some assistance settings were disabled. The ride felt harder and the big tyres noisier, though smaller wheels fit, as all trims share the same brakes.
