Solarman + Fronius Wattpilot
Solarman + Fronius Wattpilot via OCPP: Zerofy matches the charging current to your solar surplus and to dynamic tariffs. Setup in minutes, no extra hardware.
Download Zerofy Plans and PricingSolar Charging
Automatically charge your EV with surplus solar power from your Solarman system. Solar surplus charging made easy.
Dynamic Tariffs
Optimize for electricity prices. Charge or run devices when rates are lowest, and use solar when prices are high.
Direct OCPP connection
Fronius Wattpilot connects to Zerofy over OCPP, Solarman through its cloud. No extra hardware.
Solarman + Fronius Wattpilot: TL;DR
Yes, Solarman and Fronius Wattpilot work together in Zerofy. Zerofy reads your Solarman system through SOLARMAN Smart, and your Wattpilot connects to Zerofy directly over OCPP. Zerofy adjusts the charging current to the surplus. Smart mode also follows dynamic electricity prices and solar forecasts. No extra hardware needed.
What Zerofy can do with Solarman and Fronius Wattpilot

| Switch between 1 and 3 phases | Not available |
| Autopilot: Solar mode | Yes |
| Autopilot: Smart mode (tariffs and forecasts) | Yes |
In practice
- Zerofy adjusts the charging current of your Wattpilot but doesn’t switch phases. On a three-phase connection, solar charging needs at least about 4.1 kW of surplus (6 A × 3 × 230 V); on a single-phase connection about 1.4 kW.
- Solarman systems range from balcony kits to rooftop systems (0.8–12 kW). A balcony system never reaches the 1.4 kW needed to start charging; a rooftop system of a few kW does on bright days, and three-phase charging needs about 4.1 kW.
- Zerofy gets new Solarman data every 5 minutes and adjusts accordingly. A minimum runtime and an activation threshold in Autopilot keep passing clouds from interrupting charging.
- If your car is connected to Zerofy too, turn on Autopilot for either the car or the charger, not both.
- In its own surplus mode the Wattpilot starts at 1.38 kW on one phase, adjusts in 0.23 kW steps and switches to three phases above 4.14 kW, where it steps in 0.69 kW; the switching level can be changed in the app. Via OCPP, Zerofy sets the charging power but not the phases, so the minimum is 6 A: about 1.4 kW single-phase or 4.1 kW three-phase.
What Solarman and Fronius Wattpilot offer on their own
Solarman: Solarman has no EV charger and no own surplus-charging function; whether surplus charging is possible depends on the inverter brand behind the logger. Deye’s SUN-EVSE charger, for example, can be monitored and controlled in Solarman when it is paired with a Deye hybrid inverter.
Fronius Wattpilot: The Wattpilot’s own PV surplus charging needs a Fronius inverter (GEN24, Verto, or SnapINverter/IG with Datamanager 2.0) with a Fronius Smart Meter at the feed-in point, talking over the Solar API in the same network. Other inverter brands only work with an extra Fronius Smart Meter IP or Datamanager Box 2.0 plus Smart Meter; the Wattpilot then also appears in Fronius Solar.web.
Zerofy connects the two: it reads Solarman production and controls your Wattpilot to match, together with your other devices in one app, with dynamic tariffs and forecast-based Smart mode.
Setting up Solarman and Fronius Wattpilot in Zerofy
1. Connect Solarman
Zerofy connects to SOLARMAN Smart with your account login and reads PV production, meter (consumption) and battery data of your plant; a Solarman P1 meter reader can also be added as a separate electricity meter.
- Make sure your logger is online and your plant is set up in SOLARMAN Smart.
- In Zerofy, add an inverter, choose Solarman and log in with your SOLARMAN Smart e-mail and password.
- Optional: if the plant has a P1 meter, add it in meter setup under Solarman and select it from the discovered devices.
Good to know: Zerofy finds devices per plant, so a P1 meter must be assigned to a plant in SOLARMAN Smart. If a plant has both an inverter and a P1 meter, Zerofy offers two meters with the same plant-level values; connect only one of them.

2. Connect Fronius Wattpilot
The Wattpilot connects to Zerofy via OCPP 1.6J; you enter the connection details from Zerofy in the Solar.wattpilot app.
- In Zerofy, add a Fronius Wattpilot and copy the OCPP connection details.
- In the Solar.wattpilot app, go to Internet → OCPP and enter the details.
- Save and wait until the status shows the connection is established.

3. Turn on Autopilot
In Zerofy, open your Wattpilot, turn on Autopilot and choose Solar – or Smart to also use dynamic tariffs and forecasts. Set the priority, activation threshold and minimum runtime.
Dynamic tariffs
Zerofy can also run your Wattpilot on dynamic electricity prices (EPEX Spot or Nord Pool, e.g. Tibber or aWATTar) or on a fixed time-of-use tariff. Smart mode combines those prices with forecasts of your household consumption and your Solarman solar production.
About Solarman and Fronius Wattpilot
Solarman – Solarman (IGEN Tech, Wuxi, China) does not make inverters: it makes data loggers such as the LSW-3 Wi-Fi stick and runs the SOLARMAN Smart platform, which according to IGEN works with about 200 inverter brands, including Deye. If your inverter’s app is SOLARMAN Smart, your data comes through Solarman whatever brand is on the inverter. Monitoring app: SOLARMAN Smart.
Fronius Wattpilot – The Wattpilot is the EV charger of the Austrian inverter maker Fronius, built for solar charging with automatic 1/3-phase switching and surplus charging from 1.4 kW. The Flex has LAN and Wi-Fi, a §14a input and a Pro version with MID and Eichrecht; it is mainly sold through installers. Products: Fronius Wattpilot Flex Home, Wattpilot Flex Pro, Wattpilot Go, Wattpilot Home.
