SolarEdge + Wallbox

SolarEdge + Wallbox via OCPP: Zerofy matches the charging current to your solar surplus and to dynamic tariffs. Setup in minutes, no extra hardware.

Solar Charging

Automatically charge your EV with surplus solar power from your SolarEdge system. Solar surplus charging made easy.

Dynamic Tariffs

Optimize for electricity prices. Charge or run devices when rates are lowest, and use solar when prices are high.

Direct OCPP connection

Wallbox connects to Zerofy over OCPP, SolarEdge through its cloud. No extra hardware.

SolarEdge + Wallbox: TL;DR

Yes, SolarEdge and Wallbox work together in Zerofy. Zerofy reads your SolarEdge system through SolarEdge Monitoring / mySolarEdge app, and your Wallbox charger connects to Zerofy directly over OCPP. Zerofy adjusts the charging current to the surplus. Smart mode also follows dynamic electricity prices and solar forecasts. No extra hardware needed.

In practice

  • Phase switching for Wallbox is coming to Zerofy. Until then the charger uses the phases it’s wired with, so on a three-phase connection solar charging needs at least about 4.1 kW of surplus (6 A × 3 × 230 V).
  • A typical SolarEdge home system (3–10 kW) needs a sunny midday to reach the 4.1 kW three-phase minimum. Wired single-phase, the charger starts from about 1.4 kW but charges at no more than about 3.7 kW.
  • Zerofy gets new SolarEdge data every 5 minutes and adjusts accordingly. A minimum runtime and an activation threshold in Autopilot keep passing clouds from interrupting charging.
  • Zerofy also shows your SolarEdge battery, so you can see whether surplus goes into the battery or into the car.
  • If your car is connected to Zerofy too, turn on Autopilot for either the car or the charger, not both.
  • Wallbox’s Full green mode needs 6 A of surplus, about 1.4 kW single-phase or 3×6 A (about 4.1 kW) three-phase, and Wallbox asks for the inverter to be set to export mode. The Wallbox solar mode measures with its own meter, but Zerofy does not need it: Autopilot works out the surplus from the inverter you have connected.

What SolarEdge and Wallbox offer on their own

SolarEdge: SolarEdge sells its own EV charger, controlled from the mySolarEdge app. With the SolarEdge ONE Controller (inverter firmware 4.22 or later), mySolarEdge can instead run one third-party OCPP 1.6J charger with Excess Solar charging: MENNEKES AMTRON, Wallbox Pulsar Max/Plus/Pro, Alfen Eve S-line/Pro-line or ABB Terra AC. Only one charger can be used at a time.

Wallbox: Wallbox’s own Solar Charging (formerly Eco-Smart) needs a power meter sold by Wallbox at the grid connection and offers “Eco” (solar plus grid) and “Full green” (surplus only). With the meter, Pulsar Max and Pulsar Pro can drop from three to one phase when surplus is low (“3P Optimization”; tethered Pulsar Max units from August 2025 production); no inverter brand is read directly.

Directly, without Zerofy: Wallbox Pulsar Max, Pulsar Plus and Pulsar Pro charge on excess solar from mySolarEdge via OCPP 1.6J; this needs the SolarEdge ONE Controller and OCPP set up in the Wallbox app.

Zerofy is the alternative if you want SolarEdge, Wallbox and your other devices in one app, with dynamic tariffs and forecast-based Smart mode.

Setting up SolarEdge and Wallbox in Zerofy

1. Connect SolarEdge

Zerofy connects to SolarEdge’s monitoring cloud with the same login you use for the SolarEdge Monitoring website or the mySolarEdge app.

  1. Make sure your SolarEdge inverter is online and your account has the Owner role on the site.
  2. Add a new SolarEdge device in Zerofy.
  3. Log in with your SolarEdge Monitoring / mySolarEdge credentials and follow the on-screen prompts.

Good to know: Your account needs the Owner role, which the installer usually assigns to the system owner during setup; ask your installer if you don’t have it. Battery and meter data depend on how your system is configured.

2. Connect Wallbox

Wallbox chargers connect to Zerofy via OCPP 1.6J, which you switch on in the myWallbox app; Zerofy shows you the exact server and charge point identity to enter.

  1. In Zerofy, add a Wallbox charger and copy the Server and Charge point identity.
  2. In the myWallbox app, open the charger settings, go to External Management → OCPP and turn OCPP on.
  3. Choose OCPP provider “Other”, paste both values, leave the password empty and save; the charger reboots and connects within 1–3 minutes.

Good to know: The charge point identity is case-sensitive, so use the copy buttons. While OCPP is active, charging is controlled from Zerofy instead of the myWallbox app; firmware updates, restarts and network settings stay in the myWallbox app.

3. Turn on Autopilot

In Zerofy, open your Wallbox charger, turn on Autopilot and choose Solar – or Smart to also use dynamic tariffs and forecasts. Set the priority, activation threshold and minimum runtime.

Dynamic tariffs

Zerofy can also run your Wallbox charger on dynamic electricity prices (EPEX Spot or Nord Pool, e.g. Tibber or aWATTar) or on a fixed time-of-use tariff. Smart mode combines those prices with forecasts of your household consumption and your SolarEdge solar production.
