Kermi GmbH is a heating, ventilation and air-conditioning manufacturer from Plattling in Lower Bavaria, founded in 1960 as a craft business. From July 2001 it belonged to the Swiss Arbonia group (then AFG Arbonia-Forster); Arbonia sold its Climate division, Kermi included, to Midea Electrics Netherlands B.V., a company of the Midea Group, and the sale closed on 26 February 2025. Kermi now describes itself as a company of MBT Climate, the European unit of Midea Group's Building Technology business, and the Arbonia radiator brand is being merged into the Kermi brand. The heat pump range is sold as x-change: the R290 air-to-water monoblocs dynamic pro (S to XL) and dynamic eco, the R32 dynamic pro ac AW E, the indoor R410A dynamic AW I, the R290 brine and groundwater units terra pro and water pro, the R410A terra BW I and water WW I, and the aqua eco hot water heat pump. The units are run by the x-center pro wall controller (x-center x40 on the older indoor units) with the Kermi x-center app and web portal.

Kermi in Zerofy
Zerofy has no integration for Kermi yet. Where a series below has an SG Ready input, Zerofy can still switch it through a Shelly relay. The heat pump comparison lists every brand Zerofy supports.
Kermi heat pump types
Kermi Air-to-water monoblock
The whole refrigerant circuit sits in one outdoor unit; only water pipes run into the house. The most common choice for retrofits, because no refrigerant lines need to be installed inside.

Kermi Ground-source (brine/water)
Draws heat from a borehole or ground loop, so the source stays at a steady temperature all winter. Higher efficiency and no outdoor noise, but boreholes cost money and need a permit.

Kermi Water-source
Uses groundwater as the heat source. Very efficient, but needs a well and a water-rights permit, so it is rare in homes. Most ground-source models can be ordered in this variant.

Kermi Hot water heat pumps
A small heat pump built onto a hot water tank. It heats drinking water only and is a good way to turn surplus solar into stored heat – or to add hot water to a house that is otherwise heated differently.

Heating output is the figure in the manufacturer's datasheet; the basis (nominal output at A7/W35 or B0/W35, or design heat load) differs between brands, so check the datasheet before comparing. * = design heat load Pdesignh at 35 °C from the BAFA portal.

SG Ready is a label of the Bundesverband Wärmepumpe (BWP) e.V.; “Yes” means the manufacturer documents the two-input interface or declares it on the BAFA portal, not that the series carries the BWP label – the label list is at waermepumpe.de. EEBUS is a standard of the EEBus Initiative e.V.; Modbus is a registered trademark of Schneider Electric, licensed to the Modbus Organization. Product names, logos and photos belong to their manufacturers and are shown to identify the products. Grant data: BAFA Wärmeerzeuger-Portal and Lista ZUM (IOŚ-PIB) as of the dates shown; the SCOP at 55 °C in the BAFA tables is calculated by Zerofy from the portal's ηs value.
