What Zerofy can do with Solarman and tado°

In practice

• Autopilot isn’t available for tado° yet, so Zerofy won’t run your tado° thermostats on solar surplus automatically. You can see Solarman production and tado° in one app and adjust the room temperature from there.
• A temperature you set from Zerofy works like a manual change in the tado° app: it overrides the tado° schedule for that zone with no end time, so the zone only goes back to its schedule when you resume it in the tado° app.

What Solarman and tado° offer on their own

Solarman: Solarman offers no heat pump or SG Ready control.

tado°: With the Heat Pump Optimizer X and the paid “Balance for Heat Pumps” service, tado° shifts heat pump operation into the hours its PV forecast expects solar power. The forecast uses the PV size, address, roof direction and tilt you enter plus the local weather forecast, not live inverter data; the Smart AC Control has no solar function.

Zerofy connects the two: it reads Solarman production and controls your tado° thermostats to match, together with your other devices in one app.

Setting up Solarman and tado° in Zerofy

1. Connect Solarman

Zerofy connects to SOLARMAN Smart with your account login and reads PV production, meter (consumption) and battery data of your plant; a Solarman P1 meter reader can also be added as a separate electricity meter.

1. Make sure your logger is online and your plant is set up in SOLARMAN Smart.
2. In Zerofy, add an inverter, choose Solarman and log in with your SOLARMAN Smart e-mail and password.
3. Optional: if the plant has a P1 meter, add it in meter setup under Solarman and select it from the discovered devices.

Good to know: Zerofy finds devices per plant, so a P1 meter must be assigned to a plant in SOLARMAN Smart. If a plant has both an inverter and a P1 meter, Zerofy offers two meters with the same plant-level values; connect only one of them.

2. Connect tado°

Zerofy logs in to your tado° account and shows temperature and humidity of your tado° zones, and you can set the room temperature from Zerofy; Autopilot does not control tado° devices.

1. Set up your tado° devices in the tado° app.
2. In Zerofy, add Tado and log in with your tado° app credentials.

Good to know: Zerofy does not run tado° on solar surplus or dynamic prices; use it in Zerofy for monitoring and manual temperature changes.

About Solarman and tado°

Solarman – Solarman (IGEN Tech, Wuxi, China) does not make inverters: it makes data loggers such as the LSW-3 Wi-Fi stick and runs the SOLARMAN Smart platform, which according to IGEN works with about 200 inverter brands, including Deye. If your inverter’s app is SOLARMAN Smart, your data comes through Solarman whatever brand is on the inverter. Monitoring app: SOLARMAN Smart.

tado° – tado° was founded in Munich in 2011 and makes smart thermostats, radiator thermostats, a heat pump controller (Heat Pump Optimizer X) and an infrared Smart AC Control for existing air conditioners. tado° says its products work with 95% of heating systems in Europe.
