Deye + tado°: TL;DR
Deye and tado° both connect to Zerofy, but automatic solar control of tado° isn't available yet. Zerofy reads your Deye system through Deye Cloud and controls your tado° thermostats through the tado° cloud. No extra hardware needed.
What Zerofy can do with Deye and tado°
| Solar data from Deye | Live values and history, new data every 5 min, including the battery |
| Connection to tado° | Cloud – your tado° account |
| Set room temperature | Yes |
| Autopilot: Solar mode | Not available |
| Autopilot: Smart mode (tariffs and forecasts) | Not available |
In practice
- Autopilot isn’t available for tado° yet, so Zerofy won’t run your tado° thermostats on solar surplus automatically. You can see Deye production and tado° in one app and adjust the room temperature from there.
- A temperature you set from Zerofy works like a manual change in the tado° app: it overrides the tado° schedule for that zone with no end time, so the zone only goes back to its schedule when you resume it in the tado° app.
What Deye and tado° offer on their own
Deye: Deye hybrids have no SG Ready output. A heating rod or other load can be wired to the GEN port in Smart Load Output mode, but it switches only by battery SOC (e.g. on at 100 %, off below 95 %), not by measured surplus.
tado°: With the Heat Pump Optimizer X and the paid “Balance for Heat Pumps” service, tado° shifts heat pump operation into the hours its PV forecast expects solar power. The forecast uses the PV size, address, roof direction and tilt you enter plus the local weather forecast, not live inverter data; the Smart AC Control has no solar function.
Zerofy connects the two: it reads Deye production and controls your tado° thermostats to match, together with your other devices in one app.
Setting up Deye and tado° in Zerofy
1. Connect Deye
Zerofy connects to Deye Cloud with your Deye Cloud login and reads PV production, meter (consumption) and battery data.
- Register your system in Deye Cloud (web or the Deye Cloud app).
- In Zerofy, add an inverter, choose Deye and log in with your Deye Cloud credentials.
- Configure the meters: the grid meter as main meter (bi-directional or consumption), production as a sub meter of type production.
2. Connect tado°
Zerofy logs in to your tado° account and shows temperature and humidity of your tado° zones, and you can set the room temperature from Zerofy; Autopilot does not control tado° devices.
- Set up your tado° devices in the tado° app.
- In Zerofy, add Tado and log in with your tado° app credentials.
Good to know: Zerofy does not run tado° on solar surplus or dynamic prices; use it in Zerofy for monitoring and manual temperature changes.
About Deye and tado°
Deye – Deye (Ningbo Deye Inverter Technology, Ningbo, China) is best known for low-voltage hybrid inverters such as the three-phase SUN-5K to SUN-12K-SG04LP3-EU, used with 48 V batteries. It also makes SUN-M60/80/100G4 microinverters (600–1000 W) for balcony and small rooftop systems. Monitoring app: Deye Cloud.
tado° – tado° was founded in Munich in 2011 and makes smart thermostats, radiator thermostats, a heat pump controller (Heat Pump Optimizer X) and an infrared Smart AC Control for existing air conditioners. tado° says its products work with 95% of heating systems in Europe. Products: tado° Smart Thermostat X, Smart Radiator Thermostat X, Heat Pump Optimizer X, Smart AC Control.
