What Zerofy can do with FoxESS and tado°

In practice

• Autopilot isn’t available for tado° yet, so Zerofy won’t run your tado° thermostats on solar surplus automatically. You can see FoxESS production and tado° in one app and adjust the room temperature from there.
• A temperature you set from Zerofy works like a manual change in the tado° app: it overrides the tado° schedule for that zone with no end time, so the zone only goes back to its schedule when you resume it in the tado° app.

What FoxESS and tado° offer on their own

FoxESS: FoxESS has its own R290 heat pumps (HP Series monobloc, HP BOX hydro module), controlled in FoxCloud 2.0, which lists a solar heating feature. The three-phase H3 Pro can switch an SG Ready heat pump through its dry contacts when feed-in exceeds a set start power.

tado°: With the Heat Pump Optimizer X and the paid “Balance for Heat Pumps” service, tado° shifts heat pump operation into the hours its PV forecast expects solar power. The forecast uses the PV size, address, roof direction and tilt you enter plus the local weather forecast, not live inverter data; the Smart AC Control has no solar function.

Zerofy connects the two: it reads FoxESS production and controls your tado° thermostats to match, together with your other devices in one app.

Setting up FoxESS and tado° in Zerofy

1. Connect FoxESS

Zerofy connects to the FoxESS cloud: you log in with your FoxESS Cloud account and authorize access on FoxESS’s own screen.

1. Make sure your inverter is online and registered in the FoxESS Cloud app.
2. In Zerofy, choose FoxESS and log in with the FoxESS Cloud owner account.
3. Confirm your devices on the FoxESS authorization screen.

Good to know: Use the owner account of the device. Installer and agent accounts don’t own the devices, so FoxESS shows “No Devices” and the connection fails.

2. Connect tado°

Zerofy logs in to your tado° account and shows temperature and humidity of your tado° zones, and you can set the room temperature from Zerofy; Autopilot does not control tado° devices.

1. Set up your tado° devices in the tado° app.
2. In Zerofy, add Tado and log in with your tado° app credentials.

Good to know: Zerofy does not run tado° on solar surplus or dynamic prices; use it in Zerofy for monitoring and manual temperature changes.
