Huawei + Nibe: TL;DR
Yes, Huawei and Nibe work together in Zerofy. Zerofy reads your Huawei system through Huawei FusionSolar and controls your Nibe heat pump through the Nibe cloud. Smart mode also follows dynamic electricity prices and solar forecasts. No extra hardware needed.
What Zerofy can do with Huawei and Nibe
| Solar data from Huawei | Live values and history, new data every 5 min, including the battery |
| Connection to Nibe | Cloud – your Nibe account |
| Hot-water boost | Yes |
| Autopilot: Solar mode | Yes |
| Autopilot: Smart mode (tariffs and forecasts) | Yes |
In practice
- Hot water is the simplest heat store: Autopilot can use the hot-water boost of your Nibe heat pump to heat water in hours with surplus.
- A heat pump draws roughly 1–3 kW while running, which a typical Huawei home system (2–10 kW) can cover on sunny days.
- Zerofy gets new Huawei data every 5 minutes. Heat pumps shouldn’t switch often, so set a minimum runtime in Autopilot.
- Zerofy also shows your Huawei battery, so you can see whether surplus goes into the battery or into the heat pump.
- Leave the normal hot-water comfort mode at a moderate level so the tank has headroom; a boost triggered on surplus then stores midday solar as hot water for the evening. EME 20 is not needed for this, since Zerofy reads the surplus from your inverter’s cloud.
What Huawei and Nibe offer on their own
Huawei: The SmartAssistant (EMMA) switches one SG Ready heat pump directly through its DO dry contacts or an external relay, and a second one through a Shelly. It also controls Vaillant aroTHERM plus via EEBUS and the Askoheat+ heating rod via Modbus TCP.
Nibe: NIBE’s own PV solution is the EME 20 communication module for S-series units (S1155, S1255, SMO S40, VVM S320/S325). It reads the inverter over RS485 Modbus RTU (SunSpec) and, under menu 4.2.2 “Solar electricity”, lets the heat pump raise room, hot-water or pool temperature when there is surplus; with an extra energy meter household consumption can be prioritised.
Zerofy connects the two: it reads Huawei production and controls your Nibe heat pump to match, together with your other devices in one app, with dynamic tariffs and forecast-based Smart mode.
Setting up Huawei and Nibe in Zerofy
1. Connect Huawei
Zerofy connects to Huawei FusionSolar with the login of a FusionSolar owner account; the older Northbound API account still works as a legacy option.
- Check that your FusionSolar account has a verified email address (System → Personal Settings).
- Make sure it is an Owner account; if you only have an installer or company account, invite a new user with the role Owner in the FusionSolar app.
- Add Huawei FusionSolar in Zerofy, choose the FusionSolar login and enter the owner account’s credentials.
Good to know: Installer and company accounts don’t work, and the owner invitation can only be sent from the FusionSolar smartphone app, not the web portal. If you use the legacy Northbound API, create a dedicated account for Zerofy, because sharing it with other services can cause data gaps.
2. Connect Nibe
Zerofy connects to the myUplink cloud API with your myUplink login (OAuth) and shows the heat pump as a Space Heating and a Hot Water Tank device; Autopilot controls the hot-water boost.
- Register the heat pump in myUplink and make sure it is online.
- Activate a myUplink Premium subscription for the system.
- In Zerofy, add Nibe and log in with your myUplink credentials.
- Enable Autopilot (Solar or Smart mode) for the Hot Water Tank.
Good to know: Without a myUplink Premium subscription the API access does not work. Zerofy currently steers only the hot-water boost; flow-temperature control is not available yet.
3. Turn on Autopilot
In Zerofy, open your Nibe heat pump, turn on Autopilot and choose Solar – or Smart to also use dynamic tariffs and forecasts. Set the priority, activation threshold and minimum runtime.
Dynamic tariffs
Zerofy can also run your Nibe heat pump on dynamic electricity prices (EPEX Spot or Nord Pool, e.g. Tibber or aWATTar) or on a fixed time-of-use tariff. Smart mode combines those prices with forecasts of your household consumption and your Huawei solar production.
About Huawei and Nibe
Huawei – Chinese manufacturer (Huawei Digital Power, Shenzhen). Homes typically have a SUN2000 hybrid inverter, either the single-phase L1 (2–6 kW) or the three-phase M1 (3–10 kW), with a LUNA2000 battery, plus optional optimizers and the SmartGuard backup box. Monitoring app: Huawei FusionSolar.
Nibe – NIBE is a Swedish heat pump maker (Markaryd). Homeowners typically have a ground-source S1155/S1255, an air-to-water heat pump with an SMO or VVM indoor unit, or an exhaust-air F730/F750, all connected to the myUplink cloud. Products: S1155, S1255, S2125 with SMO S40 / VVM S320, F-series (F1155, F1255, F2120, F730, F750).
