German inverter maker based in Niestetal near Kassel. Homes typically have a Sunny Boy (single-phase) or Sunny Tripower (three-phase) string inverter, or a Sunny Boy Smart Energy (3.6–6 kW) or Sunny Tripower Smart Energy hybrid inverter with the SMA Home Storage battery (3.28 kWh modules, up to 16.4 kWh). Its monitoring app is SMA Sunny Portal / SMA Energy app.

What SMA offers on its own
Before connecting SMA to Zerofy, it helps to know what SMA offers on its own:
- EV charging: SMA’s energy manager, the Sunny Home Manager 2.0, controls up to three SMA EV Charger or SMA eCharger wallboxes, plus Mennekes AMTRON and Spelsberg Smart Pro wallboxes via SEMP. Third-party wallboxes outside that compatibility list are not controlled.
- Heating: The Sunny Home Manager 2.0 runs heat pumps via EEBus (Vaillant, Wolf, NIBE S-series), SEMP (Stiebel Eltron, Tecalor, AEG) or an SG Ready input switched by a Shelly, Moxa or SMA relay. my-PV heating rods (AC ELWA, AC•Thor) are controlled via SEMP.
- Other loads: Other loads are switched through Shelly, AVM FRITZ!DECT, Edimax or Niko smart plugs, and Bosch and Siemens dishwashers and washing machines start via EEBus. With firmware 2.18.14.R the Home Manager also plans loads and battery charging around dynamic electricity prices.
