19 new EV brands added for smart EV charging with dynamic tariffs and excess solar

Electric vehicles are a key part of the energy transition. The transition needs to happen through combined i) green electricity generation and ii) electrification of energy consumption, where EVs play an important role. In the context of home energy management, smartly charging your EV to save costs, limit grid strain, or to reduce CO2 emissions is also an integral part of the electrified future.

Up to now Zerofy already integrated with Tesla vehicles and with several EV chargers. Our Autopilot allowed for smart EV charging with “Run on Price” and “Run on Solar”. Today, with our latest release, we’re expanding our support to a total of 20 EV brands, and we offer more options for smart charging with Run on Price.

In terms of vehicle brands we are adding: Audi, BMW, Cupra, Fiat, Ford, Hyundai, Jaguar, Kia, Mercedes, Mini, Nio, Nissan, Porsche, Renault, SEAT, Skoda, Toyota, Volkswagen, Volvo.

You can connect to vehicles from all these brands easily in the app.

“Run on Price” for EVs now supports charging to the configured target state of charge (or until full) at the cheapest hours. Whenever the vehicle is plugged in, a charging schedule will be generated automatically. You can always review or modify the schedule in the app.

Besides automated charge to target SOC, you can also set any fixed number of hours to charge at cheapest prices.

Finally, you can also seamlessly use “Run on Solar” with all these 20 vehicle brands to charge on excess rooftop solar production.

On top of these major changes, the current app release also offers the following updates:

• Thermostats such as Tado: control temperature from the Zerofy app.
• E-Mail & password sign-up/login replaces magic link sign-up/login. (Existing magic link users can set a password with the forgot password method.)
• Support for Shelly Gen 1 devices.
• About a dozen smaller design improvements.

These features are another important step towards our vision of a holistic, automated, cost effective, and vendor-independent home energy management for the electrified home. And we’re already working on the next iterations on that path.
