This post is part of a series that introduces details of our device integrations in Zerofy.

We selected this month’s featured integration at the occasion of this year’s edition of one of the oldest trade shows in the world: IFA Berlin, which was established 99 years ago. One of the presenting companies and our featured integration, Miele, is even older: founded 1899.

Miele produces some of the most well-known appliances in Europe, famously also endorsed by Steve Jobs. Their top-of-the-line appliances are not only very energy efficient, but also cloud-connected. Reason enough to integrate in Zerofy.

Energy consumption and role of appliances in electrified households

While the largest energy consumers in an electrified home are heating/cooling and electric cars, dishwasher, washer, and dryer are typically the consumers that follow right after. Especially a family with kids who have a lot of laundry and dishes to clean can save energy and costs with efficient appliances.

Even with efficient appliances you can further optimize, by shifting their usage to times of low-carbon and low-cost electricity. If you have rooftop solar you can run the devices at times of high solar production, and if you need energy from the grid, you can run them when electricity price and CO2 are low, as visible for example in the Zerofy app.

Zerofy’s Miele integration

With Zerofy’s Miele integration you can connect your appliances simply by logging into your Miele@Home account from the Zerofy app. You get several benefits out of this:

Track energy consumption, emissions, and program cycle statistics (new)

Zerofy shows you the energy consumption of all your connected appliances for different time ranges as part of the breakdown of overall energy consumption.

New in our upcoming releases you can get even more detailed information with the statistics of which programs and cycles you run most often, and als a ratio of how often you use the dryer in relation to the number of washer loads!

Observe and control devices remotely (new)

With our next release you can get an overview of all currently running appliances, and you can even control them remotely.

This can happen manually (for example you can start or pause the dishwasher from the Zerofy app when energy prices are low or high, respectively), or in the very near future also have the dishwasher scheduled and run fully automatically.

Meet Zerofy at IFA

We’re also happy to announce that we are exhibiting at IFA on Sept 4 and 5 as part of IFA Next at Hall 27 booth 254!
